Baby heron raising a ruckus

June 23rd, 2007 · No Comments

There’s a few young egrets and herons still at the rookery. The herons are amazing. This young one was kicking up a storm bellowing and flapping his wings and carrying on. I guess mom wasn’t feeding him quick enough. He settled down when she showed up.

They really are like baby dinosaurs. The look and sound like prehistoric beasts.

I must be a native Texan now. I drove ~4 miles out of my way round trip to go through the drive through at Starbucks rather than use the walk in one down the street. I never would’ve down that in New England even in the dead of winter.

Herons left, just egrets at the rookery now

The heron’s have moved onto bigger and better things. I was hoping to see some of the young ones out and about but they have moved off. The rookery is still about half full of egrets. The little ones are practicing flying going from one tree top to the next.
