I don’t know why this is missing from the Texas State Park website but here is some basic information:
It’s in/near Freeport Texas. Take288 South as far as you can to route 36. Go south/east on 36 until you reach 1495. Go south on 1495 to 723. Take a right on 723 to 241. You’ll be on a dirt road at 723, you” be driving on the beach there after.
The beach is crowded in the nice weather, there will be cars on both sides and it cna be a tight squeeze with traffic in both directions, especially when the tide is in.
You’ll have ocean on one side and a large pond on the inside at the end of the beach.
We saw rosetta spoonbills, pipers, stilts, pelicans and several gulls the afternoon we visited in late May.

The goldfinches showed up about mid January at our feeders. We picked up an extra bird feeder and a couple of bags of thistle for them. They also like black sunflower seeds.
They migrate through in large flocks 20 to 30 strong. So there are many very hungry goldfinches here now. I’m told they stay in Houston from mid November to mid April. They avoid the feeders until all other food is gone. So you won’t likely see them at your feeders until after we’ve had a few weeks of cold weather and rain.
They are very timid. It took more than a week before they would just eat and run at the feeder. Even now they scatter if they spot me watching them. Today is the first day they have held their ground while other birds came to the feeder.
